Codes and convention

codes and convention for short movies, I looked into a power point show by Tom Smith. In his show he referenced spending plan, length, circumstance, bend and characters. Beginning with financial plan, numerous or the majority of the chiefs making short film are typically working alone and the financial plan as a rule is extremely low. They keep things short and basic like picking to 2 areas that are effectively available. What's more, in the short film simply a few entertainers and it costs hardly anything. As I've referenced previously, short movies as a rule have a period breaking point of no less than 30 to 40 min max. Be that as it may, the first length of a short film was consistently 5 to 10 minutes. Since anything over that isn't exactly thought of "short". Much else is classed as highlighted length. A circumstance introduced in a short film is continuously focusing on a set crowd. They discuss circumstances individuals face in their regular day to day ex...

Flim opening

The opening shot, which sets the tone for the entire film, is one of its most crucial elements. gives you a chance to introduce your audience, touch on important elements, themes, and certain writing techniques like foreshadowing and contrast.

Cinematic Lighting

Lighting is a major element of filmmaking that may be used to enhance the portrayal of ambiance and add depth to a narrative. Shoot from the shadow side to create cinematic video (the side that light is NOT falling from) REMBRANDT LIGHTING: Also known as 45 degree light, this type of lighting falls 45 degrees down, 45 degrees up, or even both ways on the subject. Either one light or two or more lights can be used. While the second light, which just fills the shadows, is referred to as fill light, the key light or main light primarily impacts the subject. Usually, the two lights are coming from different subjects. The intensity varies as well.Backlit backgrounds help distinguish between the subject and the background, especially when the colours of the background and the subject are similar. The result is a silhouette of the subject. type of backdrop lighting. It is, according to the subject, at a 180-degree angle. It covers both sides of the controversy. Motivated lighting is prov...

Research into camera techniques

Research into camera techniques      Long shot  To establish where a scene is happening by giving the audience a better sense of the surroundings, this also helps the audience understand what is happening in the scene.   Extreme Long shot (establishing shot) Similar to long shot but further which indicate where the scene is taking place, helps build ambiance. Close up Used to clearly see the character facial expression and feelings with their head or face occupying the whole scene to avoid any distraction, this engage the audience to pay attention. Medium shots Shows actions in a straightforward way allowing the audience to see the background while being close enough to capture the character emotion further with the visual of gesture. Over the shoulder shot Taken from behind the shoulder of another character and usually combine with close up or medium shots, Often used in a conversation between character in a scene, can sometime be dramatic. Flim representation

FILM REPRESENTATIONS A variety of methods can be used by filmmakers to introduce and develop characters. They represent a character through their choice of camera angles, acting, mise-en-scene, editing, lighting, and sound. The majority of movies portray a certain quality or story using certain conventions or stereotypical beliefs. Both negative and positive representations are possible. Representations are crucial and must be used with extreme care. For instance, in some films, people of colour are portrayed in stereotypical ways that have come under fire. The same is true for the portrayal of women, who are almost always cast as supporting characters rather than as the main protagonists. But throughout time, these depictions have improved, and now we can see increasing representation of women and people of colour.

Genre Types and their openings

Genre A film genre is a motion-picture category based on similarities either in the narrative elements, aesthetic approach, or the emotional response to the film. In the early days of cinema, genres were much more uniform and defined. Just as they were in literature and other forms of art and entertainment, people would go to the theater to watch a war film, a musical, or a comedy . The basic genres were well defined and included some of the following:  Action:  An action story is similar to adventure, and the protagonist usually takes a risky turn, which leads to desperate situations (including explosions, fight scenes, daring escapes, etc.). Comedy:  It is a story that tells about a series of funny, or comical events, intended to make the audience laugh. It is a very open genre, and thus crosses over with many other genres on a frequent basis.  Adventure:  It is about a protagonist who journeys to epic or distant places to accomplish something. It can ha...
